Successful Damp treatments

The only really effective wayof permanently stoppingpenetrating damp in any dwellingis to waterproofthe externalfacadefrom water ingressviaporousbrickwork. This can be doneby applyinga water resistantoutsidepaint film straightonto the porous wallsof the building.  Penetrating damp walls are caused by rain water being absorbed by the porous outer skin of the wall and then soaking through the structure by capilliary action to finally show up as wet patches or black mould on the inside.

As an alternative you can  consider external rendering. Working with a a cement  wall render is difficult  when compared to using masonry  coatings. Due to this fact it would be really recommended to hire a skilled plasterer.
